About Nori Agentic
Nori Agentic is reinventing what it means to be software engineer in the agentic era. We live on and push the frontier of AI tools, and build products that embed our expertise for general use. We are some of the most experienced agentic AI practitioners in the country. And we are now looking for high agency, mission-driven, and passionate builders to join our team.
About the role
We are looking for a senior software engineer with system design experience to join as employee #2. This is an extremely high autonomy role. Applicants are expected to be opinionated about their developer environment and, more than anything, have good taste about what makes for good and maintainable systems. You will be driving most of your work through our coding agent infrastructure; it is critical that you can identify 'slop' and steer agents towards useful and maintainable architecture. You will work with customers and clients to ensure that we are building things that are actually useful. You will be expected to push the boundaries of what agents can do, and embed that learning in our products.
What you'll do
- Design and implement agent primitives for our background agents tooling.
- Own the reliability, performance, and observability of production systems.
- Develop ways to continuously automate parts of the company.
- Define what it means to be a software engineer in the era of agentic programming.
- Work with customers to figure out what we need to build next.
- Probably, write a bit about what you learn.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Deep understanding of backend architecture patterns: RESTful API design, relational databases, message queues, caching strategies, and asynchronous task processing
- Experience designing systems for high availability and graceful degradation
- Has a preferred AI agent 'stack'
Strongly preferred
- Previous TL experience
- Previous startup experience
- A strong opinion about how to properly use coding agents, complete with custom skills and tooling
- Familiarity with the state of the art in coding agent tooling
All of the above aside: if you've ever looked at how someone else is using a coding agent and went "NO THIS IS WRONG," or if you have strong opinions about Nix, or if you run a tailscale server so you can connect to a local dev box to code from 'your machine' from anywhere in the world, you will be a very good fit. Using coding agents well is an art. We are at the forefront of this art form, reinventing software engineering every day. If that excites you, come join us.
Sound like a fit?
Send a note, a résumé, or just a link to something you've built. Tell us about your agent stack.
